# List of Modular DS MCP tools

The Modular DS MCP gives your AI assistant a set of tools it uses to look up information and carry out actions on your sites.

You don't call them yourself: the assistant picks the right tool based on what you ask.

This article lists all the available tools, grouped by area.

This is a living document: we'll keep adding tools as the MCP grows.

## How to read this list

Each tool shows its type:

* **Read:** only looks up information, changes nothing.
* **Write:** creates or modifies something.
* **Destructive:** deletes something permanently.

Destructive tools, and some sensitive write actions such as turning off Patch & Protect, ask for a two-step confirmation: the assistant shows you what it's going to do and only carries it out once you give the go-ahead.

## Categories

* **Sites and connection:** register, connect and manage your sites.
* **Updates:** plugins, themes and WordPress, with safe updates.
* **Backups and restorations:** backups and their tracking.
* **Security:** vulnerabilities, malware, health and Patch & Protect.
* **Monitoring:** availability (Uptime Monitor), SSL certificates and broken links of your sites.
* **Notifications and contacts:** alerts and who receives them.
* **Clients:** your client records and their contact details.
* **Global configurations:** setting templates (backups, uptime, malware, broken links) you create once and apply to several sites.
* **Teams and tags:** how you organize and group your sites.
* **Organizations:** switching your working organization.
* **Maintenance tasks:** completed tasks that stay in the history and can be added to reports.

## Sites and connection

Register sites, connect them and manage their basic information.

## Updates

Review and apply plugin, theme and WordPress updates, with or without a safe update.

## Maintenance tasks

Maintenance tasks are the jobs you log as done on a site, for example a PHP version upgrade or a manual review. They're saved in the site's history and included in the reports you send to your clients.
