Example prompts for using the Modular DS MCP

Once you connect Modular DS to your AI assistant through the MCP, you can manage your WordPress sites by giving instructions in natural language.


In this article we give you a set of prompts ready to copy and paste, grouped by task.


They're starting points, not a closed list. The assistant understands natural language, so adapt them with the name of your site or a tag and phrase them however feels most comfortable.


The Modular DS MCP is in beta and is growing fast toward being able to do almost everything you already do from the dashboard. If you ask it for something that isn't available yet, the assistant will tell you.


Getting started


As soon as you connect, try these prompts to check that everything works:


  • “Show me all my sites connected to Modular DS”
  • “Give me a summary of my sites' status”
  • “Tell me how many sites have an outdated WordPress core version”


Connect and manage your sites


  • “Connect this site to Modular DS: example.com”

This is where the MCP saves the most time if you manage many sites:

Organization

  • “Tag the sites in the Acme team as premium-client”

Tips for writing better prompts


Unlike the previous sections, here you won't find prompts to copy, but a few guidelines for writing them better. With these habits, the assistant will get it right more often and you'll save yourself back-and-forth:


  • Be specific: name the site or tag you want to act on.
  • Ask for a list first before launching an action on many sites.
  • Chain requests: after a list, “now update all of them” works.
  • Remember that actions which delete or change something irreversibly ask for a two-step confirmation before running.
