How to add a website to the Modular panel

In this guide, you’ll learn the different ways to securely connect your WordPress website to the Modular DS dashboard.

Where can you add a new website?

If you’ve just signed up, go to My websites in the left sidebar, where you’ll see two options:

  • A “+Website” button at the top of the screen (next to “+Team”).
  • A central “+Connect website” button.

Both options start the same connection process.

How to add a website

If you’ve already added websites, you’ll only see the “+ Website” button at the top, above your existing sites.

Once you click on either button, follow these steps to connect your website to Modular DS.

1. Enter the basic website details

  • Public URL: The URL visitors use to access the website (check whether it includes www or not).
  • Website name: The name you want to assign to the site in Modular DS.
  • Team: Select the team where the website will be managed. Learn more about teams here.

Here’s an example of how the fields should be completed:

2. Establish the connection

There are two ways to connect your website to the platform: you can install the connector plugin manually, or let Modular DS handle the connection automatically.

Automatic connection

If you choose automatic connection, you’ll need to provide your WordPress access credentials:

  • Login or access URL (only if it's customized; if you use the default WordPress login URL, you can leave this empty).
  • Your username.
  • Your password.

Important: Modular DS does not store your username and password. They are only used to establish the connection.

Once the automatic connection is completed, your website will appear in your dashboard.

Manual connection

If you prefer to connect a site manually, download and activate the Modular Connector plugin from the official WordPress repository or from the link provided in the manual connection section. Both options ensure you’re installing the latest version.

After activating the plugin, go to your WordPress admin dashboard and navigate to Tools > Modular DS - Connection Management.

Paste the public and private keys shown in the Modular DS connection instructions.

Here's where you’ll find the keys you need to copy:

And you must paste them here:

Once both keys have been pasted into the corresponding fields, click on "Update" and go back to Modular DS to click the "Connect" button.

And that's it. Your website will now be connected and ready to be managed from the Modular dashboard.

Possible errors

If you see an error message while validating the connection, it may be due to one of these reasons.
