How to give your clients access to Modular DS

Do you want your clients to be able to check the status of their websites without giving them access to change anything? In Modular DS you can do this with the Viewer role, a type of access designed so that your client can see the information about their projects without being able to make changes.

This option is part of the Multiuser feature, available on plans with more than one user: Starter, Business and Enterprise. Here we explain how to give a client access step by step.

What a client can see with the Viewer role

The Viewer role gives read-only access. Your client will be able to see the information of the websites you assign to them, but will not be able to make changes or maintenance tasks.

It is the most restricted role in Modular DS. If you want to compare in detail what each of the available roles allows, it's explained in the article on users, roles and permissions.

How to give a client access

The process is the same as inviting any user, selecting the Viewer role. Follow these steps:

  1. Access the users page

From the left side menu of the control panel, go to "Users".

  1. Click on "+ Invite user"

You will find the button at the top right of the page.

  1. Enter your client's email

Type the email address of the person you want to give access to.

  1. Select the "Viewer" role

In the roles dropdown, choose "Viewer".

  1. Assign the websites or teams

Since the Viewer role does not have full access, you will need to specify which websites or teams your client will be able to access.

  1. Send the invitation

Once the access is set up, click on "Send invitation".

Your client will receive the invitation by email and you will be able to check its status in the user panel.

Invitations expire after 7 days. If necessary, you can resend them from that same panel.
